These are Sd.Kfz. 7 from Blitzkrieg Miniatures. The models are very clean and have great detail. Shown here in pictures with just a base grey primer paint.

A Big Barn door...PAK 44 in 28mm - huge gun. 3d Printed. Still to wear and tear it and muddy it up. With figures for scale...

Targe Show - Omaha Beach

Well Targe show was brilliant. The fact that the Glasgow Warhogs got "Best in Show" for Omaha Beach was the icing on the top ! Thanks to all our supports,the Kinniemuir team, the judges, the gamers and punters. Thanks...

The beach was crazy...    

The mighty Targe shield won by the Warhogs...

There were a lot of guys on the move...

Game looked great.

  

FOR THE DETAIL GUYS...

Shermans with wading trunks carry the same number as the one on Omaha-  Goggle it ....and see the actual black and white pics from Omaha. 

The Higgins are scratch built from plasticard (as well as the LVT...with the actual numbers from the LC's s at Omaha.

It was a spectacular day - and the G.I.'s made it eventually....and Warhogs also won 3rd in demonstration game section.

Mdf buildings ...28mm

Mdf and foam board ...

I bought some cheap e bay mdf buildings (15 GB pounds) and I will supplement them with foam board. The scale is 28mm.   

But I am having to spend some time engraving in some more detail. The base plastic but with engraved pavements.  The building is one piece of the 4 sections (4 sections = one house).

     

We also had these...Sarrisa do some nice 28mm mdf kites as well  

 Below: large factory - producing war kit for the axis (target number one for the allies!!!). We need to add perspex widows etc.

 

 

Above:The Berlin Strasse is a great MDF kit with loads of detail ....so trying to replicate it with mdf and foamboard is a challenge . Matching the same footprint is a challenge on foambaord stability. 

So I decided to make it in four sections rather than 6 (Berlin Strasse). These means it wont fall over easily.

 

 These are the same footprint as the Commission Figures kit Berlin Strasse.  

Above:  The engraving of detail onto the mdf and foamboard. Engraved details like the broken plaster, bullet holes and pavement add to the model.

Well this is the little 28mm guys....mainly 29th and 1st Infantry Division and 5th Ranger

The US 29th are up against the German 352nd infantry...

The beach looks tranquil 

There are a few (approx 350ish) American figures on this board.

Scratch built LCT 5 and an Academy LCT kit (with Priest and AA half track).

DD Sherman's take a few hits - and light up!













American keep on movin' up to the wire...

A Higgins boat sinks and remaining 29th wade ashore under fire.


5th Rangers scale the bluff. With Germans firing from the trench above...





Its a 7ft x7ft board to give you the scale.
The engineers team try to blow the wire with bangalores....see lines across the barb wire...

So for detail freaks ...the Higgins are mostly scratch buit with the snorkel sherman carrying the same numbers as the one on the beach. Likewise the Higgins and large lcm carry the numbers of the actual vessels at Omaha.


Then the Americans charge forward. German mortars and MG 42's are taking a toll.

Bluffs and bunkers (WN 72) are scratched from blue foam.



Casualties are high and the beach is packed...with  wounded, kit, guns and debris.


Medics take away the injured.

Hemmbalk, Belgian Gates (Element C), Czech Hedgehogs. topped with teller mines litter the beach.

Ohh and 40ft of barbed wire.
